Formation in Patna Province
Responding to the Vat Council II, and to the call of General Congregations 31 and 32, the formation programme in the Society underwent many changes. The decree 4 of the 32nd GC, the Inculturation Report, the Formation Review Commission greatly affected the formation program in the Province. The focus was ‘formation in and for mission’ for which the social, religious, economic, political and educational context of the province area, Bihar, gave concrete shape.
Vision
The formation in Patna Province envisions forming men in accordance with the charism of the Society of Jesus: to be deeply rooted in the love of Christ and discerning the signs of the times through constant and personal accompaniment by formators and companions; men who strive to integrate spiritual, intellectual and emotional dimensions to commit themselves to the service of faith and promotion of justice in our preferential option for the poor.
In the light of the Province vision, the Patna scholastics, inspired by the life and love of Jesus resolve to form themselves to be men of prayer, committed to our vowed life, sharing the brokenness and giftedness of the people, thus making Bihar our home. Hence, they strive for magis in dynamic learning and are ever ready to work for the transformation of the target groups.
Mission
Being rooted in the love of Jesus and His people, we the formators and formees strive towards magis in everything we undertake in formation, to help us form better Jesuits and companions of St. Ignatius in order to be fit instruments to carry forward the mission of Christ in Bihar.
