Jan Shiksha Bhavan envisaged women empowerment through establishing tailoring centers among the marginalized communities of Gaunaha Block, West Champaran District, Bihar. Five centers per year for about 20 adolescent girls, school dropout girls, non-school going girls are functional for 9 months. All the girls/women who have undergone training are now able to earn by stitching clothes for their neighbours, relatives and villagers. This has helped them to free themselves from the oppressive clutches of the money lenders. Girls/women also discuss, debate and take proactive participation in challenging the social evils such as dowry, child marriage, domestic violence and illiteracy.

After the completion of the 9 months tailoring course the trainees were awarded with certificates on 30th June 2019. Tailoring exhibition was organized on the occasion of the graduation day. These tailoring centers not only enhanced the skill development of the adolescent girls and women but also brought social transformation. Girls and women have benefitted much from training. They can now earn good amount in their villages by stitching clothes. They are able to support their family and send their children to school. Most of the girls have enrolled themselves for graduation after joining the tailoring centers.
