Jesuits at Jan Shiksha Bhavan, Gaunaha have entered into collaboration with the government of Bihar to bring quality in the pre-school education of children in Anganwadi Centers under Integrated Child Development Schemes (ICDS). Anganwadi Centers aim to provide education to children from 3-6 years, health and nutritional related services to children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers. The overall objective of the training was to build up community participation day-to-day running of the Anganwadi Centers so that these services are disseminated/delivered to the community. Forty members of Mata Samitis from 14 Anganwadis were trained on 21st February 2018 in Jan Shiksha Bhavan to monitor, supervise and demand that these services reach the community properly. In the process, they were empowered to ensure quality education and access to immunization and other health related services. Roles and responsibilities of mata samitis were explained to them through group discussion, songs, presentation and narration of successful stories of Mata Samitis. Thanks to the collaboration and support from NEG-FIRE, Delhi.
