Father General Arturo Sosa, S.J. has appointed Fr. Donald Miranda as the next provincial of the Patna Jesuit Province. Fr. Donald takes over from Fr. Jose Vadassery, SJ. Fr. Donald was the Rector of K. R. School, Bettiah.
Born in Mumbai on 29 March 1966 as the youngest son of the family of two brothers and two sisters, Donald entered the Society of Jesus on 01 July 1989 after completing his Masters in Microbiology at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, of Mumbai University. He had his schooling at St. Ignatius High School, Mumbai and then graduated in Science from St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.
Donald completed his Novitiate and Juniorate at XTTI, Patna and did his Bachelors in Philosophy from JDV, Pune. He did his first year of regency in Sanjivan Niwas, (Pre-Novitiate), Patna and then moved to Dalit Seva and Vikas Sansthan, Ratanpurwa, West Champaran for the second year of regency. After completing his Bachelors in Theology from Regional Theology Centre, Danapur and Vidyajyoti, Delhi, he was ordained a priest at Our Lady of Velankani Church, Mumbai in 1999. Donald did his tertianship in Shembaganur in 2003 and pronounced the final vows in the Society of Jesus at XTTI, Patna in 2004.
After doing his Masters in Spiritual Direction from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology, Cambridge, MA, USA, Donald served as the Novice Master first in XTTI, (2004-11) Patna and then moved the Loyola Sadan, Lucknow, as the Novice Master of the Inter-provincial Novitiate of Patna and Delhi Provinces (2011-12). He served as the Province Consultor (2006-2011). He is also the Province Coordinator for Ignatian Spirituality. He was appointed as the Rector of K.R. School, Bettiah in 2013.
