Patna, June 18. Sunday June 18, 2017, the Solemnity of Corpus Christy, was a Red Letter day in the life of 50 children of Kurji Parish as they received the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation. There were 26 boys and 24 girls in the group. They were prepared by Sr. Teresa SND, Ms. Karuna Kamal, Ms. Sandhya Osta, Ms. Sarang Augustin, Ms. Grace Tudu and Ms. Veena from May 29. Fr. Devashish Prasad was main coordinator of the entire preparation. The children belonged to the age group of 12 to 25.
There was a large gathering of the faithful numbering more than 5000 for the concelebrated Eucharist. There were seven other priests at the Alter along with the main celebrant, Most Rev. William D'Souza, S. J., the Archbishop of Patna. Sr. Arpan, SCSC, and three other Holy Cross sisters of St. Xavier's Women's Hostel, Fairfild assisted by the Parish Youth, decorated the Alter very beautifully. Ms. Pushpa Vijay and Ms. Lata Kumari led the parish choir that sang the hymns so melodiously and added devotion to the whole service. The heat was unbearable, yet the children braved up to the occasion.
The first reading was read by Ms. Parinita and second reading by Master Shwetang Soren. Fr. Devashish read the Gospel. In his homely the Archbishop exalted the young ones to grow in their personal love for the person of Jesus. Being the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, he told the faithful to approach the blessed Sacrament with utmost respect and devotion. During the prayers of the faithful the children prayed for various pressing needs of the Universal Church, our country, families, their own parents, religious and priests, etc.
At the end of the Mass Ms. Mary Das thanked all those who have directly or indirectly contributed to make the day a memorable one for them. As a token of appreciation, they presented a gift each to the instructors.
