XISR, the social research wing of Patna Jesuit Society (PJS), published a proceedings book entitled,
“Education of the Marginalised Communities in Bihar: Exploring Financial Inclusion” edited by Jose Kalapura. The book contains the inputs of the resource persons both at the Inaugural and Technical Sessions of a seminar on the same theme, held on March 17. Section I of the book contains ten chapters based on the inputs by resources persons at the seminar. The keynote speaker (Rtd) Prof Vinay Kantha of Patna University highlighted the exclusion of Dalits from education at various levels from primary to higher education. The guest speaker Mr. Sanjays Kumar focused on the various schemes of NABARD (National Bank for Rural Development) for financial inclusion of marginalized communities. The Chief Guest, Padmasri Sister Sudha Varghese shared her experience of educating Dalit women and challenged the participants to assert their rights to education. Chapters 6-10 covers the inputs during the technical sessions by Dr. Ashutosh Kumar Vishal and Dr. Jose Kalapura. Section II of the book contains reports, photographs and other aspects of the Seminar. The Seminar was organized by XISR in collaboration with Bihar Dalit Vikas Samiti, Patna. The publication was sponsored by NABARD, Patna.
