Vision:

Creation of a just, humane and ecologically sensitive society

A Brief Note:

  • Sharing the heritage of St. Ignatius of Loyola, we seek to find God in everything and everything in God, look upon the earth as the place of God’s presence and action, we move into eco-activism and environmental conscientizaton.
  • To relate the Jesus story with the growing story of the Cosmos as unveiled to us by science.
  • Relentless search into a sustainable eco-justice.
  • Draw the attention of the Province and its ministries to the urgent, neglected areas of Ecological concerns that are universally important.

New Initiatives

The prices of petrol and cooking gas have shot up unprecedentedly and many have contacted the Solar Alternatives (SAAP) for some fast action. The same story has been going on the electricity front. SAAP has been busy dawn to dusk filling up the demands.

Students’ Forum for environment, Tarumitra evaluated their performance last two decades and has been focusing on the four areas of concern:

  1. Conservation of Bio-diversity
  2. Promotion of Organic Farming
  3. Campaign to save Electricity in everyday life
  4. Promotion of an earth-building Eco-spirituality for the modern times.

Tarumitra Ashram, being a center for concerted action, regularly organizes workshops, eco-exposure programs, Eco-retreats and Ecological campaigns.

Being an organization with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations, Tarumitra students participate in many international meetings and campaigns. Students from Universities across the globe have reached out in fellowship with the Indian students in the past.
